Palm Beach Atlantic University President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. announced the promotion of Dr. Bob Lutz to vice president for Student Development effective Jan. 1, 2020.
President Fleming said that Lutz’s promotion is in recognition of his “wise, enthusiastic and innovative leadership of the Student Development program” and with his earned Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership degree from the University of Dayton.
Prior to his promotion, Lutz served as dean of students since 2018 and assistant dean of students since 2016. Lutz joined the University in 2013 as director of Student Activities, Involvement and Leadership (SAIL). During his time at the University, he instituted advanced technology to manage housing selection, introduced a webinar series for new student orientation, expanded the student leadership structure and served as Title IX Deputy Coordinator.
Lutz came to PBA from Cedarville University, where he served as the associate dean for Student Leadership Development for five years and as a resident director for four years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Cedarville and a Master of Arts degree in higher education student affairs from The Ohio State University. Prior to his employment in higher education, he worked in Washington, D.C., serving as a U.S. Senate staffer and program coordinator at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.
As the chief student development officer for the University, Lutz will provide leadership for the Student Development Division including the following departments: Academic Support & Disability Services, Career Development, First-Year/Transfer Experience, Health & Wellness, Residence Life, Student Activities, Involvement, & Leadership, and Workship.
