The Sailfish men’s soccer team defeated the Florida Southern College Moccasins 3-0 Monday night to survive the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
With the victory, the Sailfish advance to the second round of the tournament, where they will face Florida Tech for the second time. The match against the Panthers is 7 p.m. Thursday in Melbourne. The winner of that semifinal will face the winner of the Lynn and Nova Southeastern match.
The Sailfish were ranked No. 7 in the conference going into the match against the Moccasins; the Moccasins were ranked No. 3. The ’Fish now have a six-game winning streak and a 13-2-2 record.
Thomas Spear scored one of the Sailfish’s goals, and Cadu Cusatis scored the other two goals two minutes apart. Overall, Cusatis is tied for most goals in the conference with 12. Read a full game report here.
