Softball No-Hitter

The PBA Sailfish softball team now is over .500 on the season after a dominating performance by freshman Katherine Budnovich, who threw a five-inning no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Converse College.

The win came Sunday in the FIT Invitational, in which the Sailfish went 4-1 to improve to 10-9 overall. Budnovich, a biochemistry major from Oviedo, Fla., is now 3-3.

This weekend, the Sailfish are back in action in the UNG Invitational in Dahlonega, Ga.

Against Converse, Hannah Carlton led off the top of the second for the 'Fish with a walk, and Sarah Thomas and Kathryn Sutton reached to load up the bases with one out.  Maddie Biggs singled to left to break the scoreless tie and Hayley Haas followed with a three-RBI triple to right center. Haas came around to score on an RBI bunt single from Magnolia West and the 'Fish led 6-0 after two.

PBA scored one run in the third inning as Sutton doubled to the right-field fence which plated Janie McCloskey who reached via walk.

Budnovich doubled home Kaylee Winn in the fourth, and came around to score herself on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Edmilly Molina.

Sutton was the only hitter with multiple hits in the game, as the 'Fish picked up nine hits in total.  Seven of the nine Sailfish starters picked up a hit in the game and Liz Albertini had a pinch-hit single in the Sailfish final at-bat.
