Printing Matters
Featured Artist: Isabel Gouveia

Gouveia uses painting, printmaking, installations, and digital media to create.
Her work and research focus on the changing landscape, environmental awareness, and the latest effects of globalization as humans seek to control and transform our environment.
During her graduate studies, she developed a digital printing process and the desire to subvert systems inherent to automation to create a unique art process. For example, she inspects how the inkjet printer works. Instead of simply hitting the “Print” button to begin its regular operation, she manipulates the printer’s controls during printing to change the result.
The aquatint’s Terrain series consists of fragments and trails of small pieces of plastic and organic matter marks left randomly on an aquatint plate. This work explores the idea of debris leftover in mass of a minuscule wasteland area.
Gouveia has received significant awards such as the Artist Innovation Fellowship of Palm Beach County, 2020; the 2017 South Florida Cultural Consortium Scholarship; and has been selected for artist residencies such as Ox-bow, Michigan in 2012; VCCA Fellowship in Virginia in 2016, France in 2018, and IS Projects, Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 2018. She has participated in exhibitions such as IPCNY (New York Print Center) in New York, Bienal de Cerveiras, and Bienal de Gravura do Douro, Portugal. She recently exhibited at Arts Warehouse, Delray Beach, The Frank Gallery, Pembroke Pines, FL, in 2022, and Studio 397, at the Marilia Razuk Gallery in São Paulo, SP, 2023.

Craig McInnis is an artist and muralist in West Palm Beach and one of the most active leaders in our art scene here in this fabulous city. His paintings are deeply engaging, bold, and full of movement. The compositions are daring, and his energy is tangible. Craig’s fluency with the material is coupled with his intense attention to detail, producing wonderfully rhythmic paintings full of surprise. He has even included a handful of fun flamingos.
Craig has a diverse skill set and a calendar full of creativity. In addition to his fine art practice, he has had the opportunity to paint many public and private murals, make music, record and nationally tour in numerous bands, illustrate, create graphics and layouts, create storyboard art and props for motion pictures, delve deeply into set, wardrobe and character design, apprentice as a tattoo artist, teach art to teens and adults, and most recently worked behind the scenes to curate, promote and produce art shows for his cohorts.
As Co-Founder of Art Synergy and CONTINUUM Craig is proud to be part of a dedicated team of art professionals with the goal of promoting local art at National and International levels and facilitating access to education, art & culture to those who may not have previously had the chance.

Artist Statement
“I rebel against the chaos of the physical world.
I am seduced by the sublime.
In two and three-dimensional paintings and mixed media artwork, I explore the flux in time, transformation, belonging, isolation, and loss activated by my diasporic identity rooted in a multi-cultural American/Jewish and Armenian/Christian heritage. As I investigate the personal, I am also interested in interweaving narratives of spirituality, science, and the current political and cultural global theater.
The hybridized ecospheres I create are a connection and collision of the raw and the refined, abstraction and realism, and a constellation of materiality formed by oozing oil paint, bentwood branches, shaped paper, sharp sewing pins, and gritty sandpaper. By design or accident, systems of saturated yellows, greens, reds, oranges and blues change with intensity and texture. The anomalies in scale symbolize an unpredictable wonderland and dualities of harmony and tension, and control and chaos.”
About the Artist
Renée Rey is an award-winning artist whose studio is in south Florida.
Rey’s artwork has been selected national awards and exhibitions by art professionals, museum curators and gallerists including Alejo Benedetti, Curatorial Assistant, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AK; Jade Dellinger, Director of Exhibits & Collections, Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College, Fort Myers, FL, Dr. Julie Sasse, Chief Curator, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Curator of Latin American Art at the Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ, Erin Wright, Curator at Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA and Gisela Carbonell, Curator, Cornell Fine Arts Museum, Orlando, FL.
Rey was invited to the School of Visual Arts Summer Painting Residency, New York, NY, 2019 and Sun Peak Center for Art and Sustainability, Colorado Springs, CO, 2106. She has taught drawing, painting and creative thinking to adults and children for over 8 years in southwest Florida.
The artist has studied drawing, painting, 3D design, film, performance art, computer art and art history on the undergraduate and graduate levels in New York and Florida. Rey holds an MBA in Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, an A.A.S. Interior Design, Parsons School of Design, New York, NY, an M.A. Jewish Education, Jewish Theological Seminary, New York, NY and a B.A. Judaic Studies; University at Albany, Albany, NY.
