Program Details
The Sports Broadcasting program combines live production, reporting, storytelling, editing, and sports media training to prepare students for careers throughout the broadcasting industry. Students participate in hands-on broadcasting labs each semester while developing experience both on camera and behind the scenes.
Sixteen of the program’s 120 credit hours are dedicated to sports broadcasting labs, providing extensive opportunities to develop professional skills before graduation.

Students can customize their academic experience through elective coursework, minors, and additional majors that align with their academic and career goals.
Students gain hands-on experience through the Sports Broadcasting Lab and Sailfish Sports Network, PBA’s campus-based production environment for Division II athletics. Students work with professional broadcasting equipment while gaining experience directing multi-camera broadcasts, operating cameras, providing play-by-play commentary, and working in behind-the-scenes production roles.

Learn from dedicated faculty members with expertise in broadcasting, sports media, video production, journalism, and digital storytelling. Through hands-on production experiences, classroom instruction, and personalized mentorship, PBA professors help students develop the technical, communication, and storytelling skills needed for careers in sports media.
Students build professional experience through live broadcasts, sports documentaries, reporting projects, internships, and hands-on production with the Sailfish Sports Network. Students rotate through on-camera and behind-the-scenes crew positions while producing coverage of PBA athletics, including baseball, basketball, lacrosse, softball, soccer, and indoor volleyball.
Students also complete internship experiences that provide exposure to professional broadcasting environments and strengthen their résumés before entering the industry.
