TYPE: Full-time, Exempt LOCATION: West Palm Beach Campus
SUMMARY:Provides leadership and administrative oversight for all programs of the School of
Nursing, making recommendations regarding the academic budget and personnel within
the school and ensuring that all aspects of the school operate within institutional
policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes the vision for the academic policies and programs of the school.
Develops annual goals for the school in keeping with the annual institutional goals
and purpose statement of the University.
Develops, coordinates, and implements a marketing program for the school in conjunction
with academic and institutional goals.
Obtains grants and other funds to enhance the work of the school.
Promotes through vigorous public relations a heightened awareness among the constituencies
of the University of the excellence of the academic programs of the school.
Recruits faculty and staff who are aligned with the institution’s mission, vision,
and values.
Focuses on retention efforts of faculty and staff through professional development
opportunities, coaching, and mentoring.
Supervises and annually appraises professional performance of faculty or staff.
Encourages and supports faculty in the development and implementation of instructional,
research, and service programs in undergraduate and graduate instruction.
Develops the school budget plan and manages the approved budget.
Provides quarterly comprehensive reports on all activities and programs of the school.
Oversees submission and maintenance of accreditation records.
Ensures the school operates within all institutional policies.
Convenes and presides over meetings of faculty or staff according to a consistent,
regular schedule.
Serves on the Council of Deans, the chief academic decision making within the University,
and the Provost's Administrative Council, the chief policy and procedure coordinating
group within the University.
Organizes an advisory council comprised of leading citizens with appropriate interest
in supporting the activities of the school.
Teaches as directed by the Provost.
QUALIFICATIONS
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a
wide spectrum of people. Interpersonal skills must allow this individual to function
professionally and wisely.
Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
Superior organizational and project management skills.
Strong supervisory skills and ability to facilitate teamwork.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Ph.D. within the discipline is required. Significant teaching experience and research
capability is required. Position is eligible for appointment as full professor in
an academic department of the school.
