Hurricane Debby Update 5 | Monday, August 5, 2024 • 10:40 a.m.
Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) officials are no longer monitoring Hurricane Debby as there is no significant threat to the region. The most recent advisory from the National Weather Service shows a High Rip Current Risk for coastal Palm Beach County, which we do not anticipate will impact the campus.
Please note that a wind advisory and a tornado watch are still in effect for Orange County today, Monday, August 5. However, we do not anticipate these conditions will affect the campus.
All operations continue as usual for both campuses.
As a reminder, the Emergency Management Team monitors all weather systems that could impact PBA campuses and communicates via email and the storm updates page when necessary.
Tropical Storm Update 4 | Sunday, August 4, 2024 • 7:30 p.m.
Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) officials continue to closely monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Debby which could impact weather in Orlando and West Palm Beach for the next few days. The Flood Watch issued by The National Weather Service for Palm Beach County remains in effect through Sunday evening, along with a High Rip Current Risk Advisory. Please be aware of your surroundings and take appropriate action to stay safe.
Orange County is under a Tornado Watch until 8 p.m. Sunday. Depending on weather conditions, the Watch could be extended. Please monitor local news sources.
The University continues to operate normally.
PBA’s Emergency Management Team continues to observe this weather system and will update you if conditions affect campus operations in Orlando or West Palm Beach. Communication to the PBA community will be provided via emails and the storm updates page.

Palm Beach Atlantic University officials continue to closely monitor the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone 4, which could impact weather in Orlando and West Palm Beach for the next several days. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Palm Beach County through Sunday evening. Please be aware of your surroundings and take appropriate action if a Flood Warning is issued. The University continues to operate normally. If you have not done so already, please sign up for AlertPBC– the text emergency notification system for Palm Beach County.
Orange County is under no watches or warnings at this time.
