The Department of Education at Palm Beach Atlantic University prepares highly competent teachers for diverse classrooms through academic and clinical experiences.  If you would like to teach children the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, the major of Elementary Education is for you. With the component of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) you will study applied linguistics, including first- and second-language acquisition and major methodologies and current trends in ESOL teaching and assessment. In addition, you can have your second semester of student teaching almost anywhere in the world.

Professional Certification Requirements:

  • Graduate from PBA’s Florida state-approved initial teacher preparation program
  • Achieve passing scores on the General Knowledge (GK) Test, the Professional Education (Prof Ed) Test, and the Subject Area Examination (SAE) http://www.fldoe.org/profd
  • Send your Official Transcript to the Florida Department of Education in Tallahassee
  • Receive your letter of Eligibility from the Florida Department of Education
