Watch Alexia’s Story
In this video, Alexia shares her experience as a Communication and Intercultural Studies student at Palm Beach Atlantic University and how PBA prepared her to serve cross-culturally through faith, leadership, and global engagement.
Highlights of Alexia’s Story
Growing up hearing stories about her father’s alma mater, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Alexia Uribe (formerly Amick) knew she wanted to experience PBA for herself. After visiting campus and touring the university’s beautiful waterfront location in West Palm Beach, she quickly discovered more than just a scenic setting — she found a close-knit, Christ-centered academic community where she could grow both spiritually and academically.
As a Communication and Intercultural Studies student at PBA, Alexia developed a strong foundation in understanding people, culture, and meaningful connection. Through small class sizes and mentorship from faith-driven professors, she learned how to integrate biblical principles with practical communication strategies. Her professors not only challenged her academically but also encouraged her to grow spiritually and recognize her God-given potential.
One of the most transformative experiences during her time at PBA came during Spring Break 2023, when she traveled to Portugal with CMGlobal, the university’s campus ministry missions program. This opportunity allowed her to apply what she learned in the classroom in a real-world, cross-cultural setting. By communicating across language and cultural barriers, she shared the love of God while gaining firsthand global ministry experience — something she describes as both unique and life-changing.
Alexia credits Palm Beach Atlantic University with helping her clarify her calling. She describes her God-sized dream as using her communication skills to make a difference in the world and to show God’s love through authentic connection and service. Today, as a PBA alumna, she continues that journey by working full-time at the university while pursuing her master’s degree, deepening her leadership development and commitment to Christ-first education.
Her story reflects the heart of PBA’s mission: equipping students to grow in wisdom, lead with conviction, and serve God boldly.
