Dance is the perfect way for you to express yourself. You want to pursue it through your studies — but you also desire a Christian education.  Fortunately for you, Palm Beach Atlantic University is one of only three schools in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities to offer a major in dance.

Your Experience

At PBA, you’ll:

  • Engage in an empowering curriculum, based on the tradition of dance as an art form.
  • Gain historical and theoretical knowledge of dance.
  • Experience a dance education grounded in the liberal arts with a Christian perspective.
  • Develop your dance skills as well as gain sound theoretical knowledge in areas such as directing, choreographing, producing, set design, lights, costumes and makeup.
  • Demonstrate your talents by performing your own work as well as the works of faculty and visiting guest artists.
  • Engage in hands-on learning through internships with national dance companies and through residency and ensemble requirements.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge you need to teach dance privately or in schools, churches or recreational programs.
  • Enjoy a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of just 19.
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills through clubs and organizations.

Your dance education will take place at the elegant Vera Lea Rinker Hall, where you’ll enjoy two spacious dance studios, each with mirrored walls and state-of-the-art electronic equipment. Additionally, you’ll take advantage of other area venues, such as the world-famous Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, located within walking distance of campus.

Your Faculty
You’ll learn from internationally respected dancers and performers. One of our faculty members is a national authority on dance education and performed with the School of Hartford Ballet in Connecticut. Another was the principal dancer with the Park Sunyoung Ballet Company in South Korea, and has worked with such world-renowned choreographers as Douglas Dunn, Sarah Kaufman and Sarah Pearson.

Your Opportunities
You’ll have opportunities to perform, on campus and off, through concerts, showcases and productions with live music — from classical to contemporary. Our students have spent summers with such prestigious companies as Jacob’s Pillow, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Mark Morris Dance Company , and Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre. You may do additional study and observation at Miami City Ballet , and other local companies.
