Faith in the Waiting: Jennifer Rogg’s Story of Perseverance

Jennifer Rogg, a native of the Sunshine State, has always felt a call toward nursing, but her path to the profession was by no means straightforward.

Finding a Door

Following graduation from Pennsylvania State University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology while attending the university on a softball scholarship, her life did not look like she imagined. She was a single mom, desperately trying to provide for her two-year-old son at the time, and she found herself in a career that didn’t align with her passions or goals.

“At the time I was young, and I just needed to survive,” she explained. “I always had it in my heart, though, that I wanted to be a nurse. My mom is a nurse, and my grandmother was a pediatric ICU nurse, so I think it’s definitely in my blood. I just couldn’t find the door to get me there.”

One day, however, five years into her career, she made the decision to leave her job. She had three classes of pre-requisites left to be able to apply for nursing school, and in June 2017, she attended her local community college to finish her classes.

“Thankfully, I have an amazing family and support system that I was able to fall back on, but I remember doing whatever I could to make ends meet,” she said.

After the summer of 2017, Jennifer began enrolling in nursing programs. She discovered Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) through a close friend, and she immediately called the admissions office to apply. After a few months of hearing nothing, she began to question her decision.

“I didn’t feel God’s presence,” she said. “I had to move in with my parents because I wasn’t able to afford my rent anymore. I became clinically depressed.”

The Voicemail That Changed Her Life

Life seemed like it was spiraling out of control until December 16, 2017, when she received a voicemail from PBA’s Admissions department telling her she had been accepted into the program.

“I still have the voicemail. I never deleted it,” Jennifer said.

She received her nursing license from PBA, remarried, and gave birth to her second son on December 16, 2022, exactly five years after receiving the voicemail.

Trusting God’s Plan

She says that the desire to be a good example to her son gave her the courage to step out in faith, trusting that God had a better plan for her life.

After completing nursing school, Jennifer became a labor and delivery nurse. In 2023, after having her second son, she began working part time as a labor and delivery nurse, and it was then that she discovered a second passion in the health and wellness space. She became the co-owner of Elite Infusions, a mobile IV therapy business in South Florida.

Jennifer’s journey didn’t stop there, however. In January 2025, she started school to become a nurse practitioner with an emphasis on psychiatric medicine.

“My vision is to expand our mobile IV business and become a health and wellness coach and practitioner with an emphasis on mental health,” she said.

Her advice to others is to trust the process.

“Everyone’s path is different. You don’t always have to have it figured out. We are all tested, and that’s okay. Learn how to be comfortable being uncomfortable.”
