Barbara Vander Werf came to Palm Beach Atlantic University in October 2006 as executive assistant to the provost. As a staff member, Barbara developed a heart for students, and in 2014 she began serving as an adjunct professor of business and management. Prior to joining the PBA community, Barbara worked in the marketing department at IBM before exiting the workforce to raise her three children: Andie, a 2011 and 2013 PBA alumna, is a marriage and family therapist; Tay, a 2012 PBA alumna, is pursuing a doctorate in history at the University of Michigan; and Joe is currently a marketing major at PBA. While raising her children, Barbara assisted in the operations of worship ministries at a local church and worked at a small business in West Palm Beach. She attended Moody Bible Institute, majoring in Christian education, and came to PBA to complete her education, eventually earning a master’s degree in business administration. She has mentored students in the overflow program and has taught FYE, and currently serves as director of undergraduate advising for the Rinker School of Business. Barbara has a love for aviation, waterskiing, running, reading, going on long walks with her rescue dog, Abbey, and spending time with family and friends.
