Dr. Krisy-Ann Thornby is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at Palm Beach Atlantic University and pharmacy preceptor for drug information at a local hospital. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating and teaching in the drug information and literature evaluation courses, facilitating doctoral seminars and case studies in therapeutics, and serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and PGY-1 residents in drug information. At her practice site, she assists with medication-use evaluations, formulary drug reviews, and nursing in-services; responding to clinical drug inquiries; creating and distributing pharmacy newsletters; improving the health-system’s policies and procedures; and participating in P&T committee meetings. Dr. Thornby received certifications from APhA in pharmacy-based immunization delivery and medication therapy management and is board certified in pharmacotherapy. Her research focuses in the area of provision of drug information services to healthcare professionals within acute care. Dr. Thornby serves as a peer reviewer for several pharmacy journals and has authored articles in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Journal of Pharmacy Technology, and Florida Pharmacy Today. She is involved in professional organizations including the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. Thornby earned her Pharm.D. degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and thereafter completed a drug information residency with Roche Laboratories in Nutley, New Jersey.
