After completing a drug information residency at Roche Laboratories, Krisy Thornby joined the faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Gregory School of Pharmacy in 2009. Dr. Thornby is an associate professor of pharmacy practice with primary responsibilities including coordinating and teaching in the drug information and literature evaluation courses while serving as a preceptor for fourth year rotation students or PGY1 residents electing drug information, academia, or hospital administration. Dr. Thornby maintains a practice site affiliation with a local hospital assisting with a variety of drug information related activities such as medication-use evaluations, formulary monographs, drug class reviews, updating policies and guidance documents, and providing patient education counseling. She is board certified in pharmacotherapy with scholarly interests on an array of topics related to the provision of drug information to healthcare professionals. She has authored articles on off-labeled uses, acute-care focused topics, evidence of alternative medicines, new drug approvals, and strategies to critically appraise the literature. She truly enjoys teaching learners the foundational principles of evidence-based medicine and coaching them throughout their academic journey as they independently discover the art of literature retrieval, analysis, assimilation and delivery of a pharmaceutically elegant end-product to improve patient care. Dr. Thornby takes great responsibility in being a faculty member of Palm Beach Atlantic University where she is able to serve God, her family, students and the profession of pharmacy.
