Biography
Prior to coming to Palm Beach Atlantic, Dr. Twibell served as associate professor of Intercultural Studies at Olivet Nazarene University for seven years. Previously, she served as a pastor in Illinois and Kentucky for over a decade and as a volunteer short-term missionary in Central America for three years.
Dr. Twibell is the author of two books, Intimacy with God: an Invitation to Prayer (2023) and Boundary-Breaking Mission: the Gospel in a Diverse and Fragmented World (2023). She has authored several book chapters and over a dozen academic articles published in peer-reviewed journals. She was selected as a Waybright Scholar to complete her Ph.D studies in Intercultural Studies at Trinity International University and has earned several honors and awards, including the Kenneth Kentzer Memorial Award for Academic Excellence and Christian Character (2019) and the Samuel L. Mayhugh Award for Scholarly Excellence (2024). Dr. Twibell also received a certificate of excellence in Chinese studies while studying abroad.
She speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian and has traveled throughout Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, leading mission trips and serving as an interpreter in Global Theology conferences. She is a certified medical interpreter and has experience working in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers where she invested her time helping Hispanic families, the mentally ill, and individuals with disabilities find a way forward.
She was the recipient of the 2006 Watson Ambassador Award and named athlete of the year after qualifying to run the marathon at the NAIA national championship that same year. But more than anything, she enjoys spending time with her two children, Lucas and Sofia.
