Dr. Nash joins PBA with academic and professional accounting experience. Before joining PBA, she held academic positions as an assistant professor of accounting at Florida Atlantic University, and as an associate professor of accountancy at Christian Brothers University, Memphis, Tennessee where she held the Morrie Moss Chair in Accounting and served as chair of the accounting, finance, and business law department. Prior to joining academia, she held positions as vice president, tax director for Union Planters Corporation, Memphis, Tennessee, (merged with Regions Bank) and as a manager for the professional services team of Ernst & Young, LLP (formally Ernst & Whinney), an international professional services firm. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
Dr. Nash’s primary research interest is U.S. tax policy affecting the taxation of capital and labor as it relates to pass-through entities and wealth accumulation by individuals. Her research is published in leading tax and accounting journals including: Advances in Taxation; ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research; Journal of Retirement Planning; Practical Tax Strategies; Tax Notes; The Tax Adviser; TAXES-The Tax Magazine; Journal of Applied Business Research; Journal of Accountancy; Internal Auditing; Accounting Business & Financial History; Journal of Accounting and Finance Research; Tennessee CPA Journal; Today’s CPA; and, in CCH’s Top Multistate Tax Series. Dr. Nash’s tax research has been used to advance tax policy positions and is cited in: Joint Committee on Taxation of Congress of the United States Reports, Congressional Budget Office of Congress of the United States Reports, Tax Policy Center of the Urban Institute and Brookings Institute Report, University of Chicago Law Review, Houston Business and Tax Law Journal, The Tax Adviser, TAXES-The Tax Magazine, Journal of Taxation, Practical Tax Strategies, Journal of Tax Practice and Procedure, Journal of Legal Issues and Cases in Business, and, Tax Notes. Her financial accounting and auditing research is cited in numerous journals and reports.
Dr. Nash is an editorial adviser for The Tax Adviser and a peer reviewer for The ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research. She is a member of the AICPA and the FICPA and serves on the FICPA International Tax Committee. She serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County, Florida, and is chair of its audit committee. She also serves and has served on numerous boards and committees of the United Methodist Church, including its general council on finance and administration. Dr. Nash attends the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, FL.
