Welcome Week

Be a Part of It All

Welcome Week has an energy all its own, and it will mark the beginning of your journey as a PBA student. During this week-long event you’ll take part in all kinds of activities and events, meet fellow students, begin mentoring relationships with faculty and have a lot of fun.

Be a Big Fish

Welcome Week takes place around the middle of August and begins with check-in, where you’ll be assigned to a “Fish” group. Your group will include other first-year students, as well as two upperclassmen who serve as your group’s Fish Leaders. This is the group you’ll be with all week, taking part in fun activities, athletic events and social gatherings.

Get Into the Action

Throughout Welcome Week you’ll take part in all kinds of different activities.

  • Athletic events and group activities will help you make new friends and discover the resources around you at PBA.
  • Social gatherings, from the President’s Ice Cream Social to energized rallies, will form the foundation of your Sailfish Spirit that will last for life.
  • Meetings with faculty will introduce you to the amazing, accomplished Christian scholars who will mentor and guide you.
  • Your first chapel and first-year seminar class will be an opportunity to feel the power and love of God’s teachings and sense the quality of our Christian academic experience.

Parents are Sailfish Too

Welcome Week is just as much about welcoming parents of first-year students into the PBA family as the students themselves. Parents attend many of the same activities as their students, as well as other events specifically for them, such as the Parent Ice Cream Social with President Fleming and the Concert of Prayer. Look for us at the Parent Welcome Area sponsored by Hyatt Place.

Welcome Weekend

Welcome Weekend is designed for new students starting in the winter semester. You’ll meet the Steering Committee, a student leader group that will guide you on your action-packed weekend.
