Highlights of Thomas’s Story
Thomas Parham’s journey of faith began early, as the son of a Navy chaplain. Although he made a profession of faith at a young age, it wasn’t until after graduating from the Naval Academy that he realized Christ needed to be not only his Savior, but also his Lord.
During a pivotal moment while traveling across Texas, Thomas recognized that his faith had not yet grown into true discipleship. That realization led him to begin reading Scripture deeply, joining Bible studies, and intentionally pursuing a relationship with Christ. Later, while serving aboard a Navy ship in the Indian Ocean, he experienced a profound understanding that Jesus is not just a concept, but a constant presence and companion in life’s challenges.
Over time, Thomas embraced his identity as a disciple—someone who not only follows Christ but also helps others grow in their faith. That calling eventually led him to Palm Beach Atlantic University.
At PBA, Thomas found a community that reinforced his desire to invest in others spiritually. He describes the university as a place that motivates both students and faculty to grow as disciples and leaders in chapel. Through teaching and mentorship, he seeks to guide students in developing a deeper relationship with Christ and a stronger commitment to discipleship.
Thomas also values the unique culture of PBA, particularly its commitment to diversity and unity within the body of Christ. Inspired by the vision of the university’s founding leadership, he believes PBA reflects a genuine Christ-centered community where people from different backgrounds come together to grow in faith.
For Thomas, PBA is more than a place of education—it is a place where disciples are formed, leaders are developed, and lives are transformed.
