Madison Murchak

Madison MurchakMajor: Marketing
Hometown: Pittsburg, PA

Describe your current job role:

SAP – Network Enablement Lead; I am a project manager. I am currently studying to get my Masters in Homeland Security and Counterterrorism from Long Island University – I will graduate May, 2019.

What professional experience(s) did you have prior to your current job role?

Marketing Manager at WESCO Distribution in Pittsburgh, PA

What do you know now that you wish you had known about being a working professional?

My passion lies in homeland security. Starting out as a business professional opened my eyes to what I am truly passionate about. My professional marketing career also taught me how to promote and run the non-profit

"PBA taught me how to be independent and think for myself."

How did PBA prepare you for the world of work?

PBA taught me how to be independent and think for myself. PBA also instilled a desire to serve, which led me to establishing the non-profit organization Fleece Connection.

What advice would you give to current PBA students and/or young alumni who are about to start their first professional full-time job?

Pursue your passions and interests. Do not pursue a career because it can be lucrative. They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Have you been mentored by anyone in your professional field since entering the workforce? If so, what impact has that had on you?

My current manager at SAP has been the best professional-working mentor I could ever ask for. He has helped me through the challenges I tend to face when trying to figure out SAP software questions. He encouraged me to pursue my passion in Homeland Security and Counterterrorism. He has also supported Fleece Connection, and shows sincere interest and concern about what is happening in his employee’s lives.
