I have a lot of jobs! Currently, I am pursuing stage acting which means I audition a lot and work for different theatres in the surrounding South Florida area. My “day job” is an Associate Manager at Stationer on Sunrise, a high-end paper store on Palm Beach Island. I create wedding invitations, business cards and more. It’s nice to use my creative side there! I also am a part of Impact100 of the Palm Beaches, which is a grant-giving nonprofit, as well as I’m currently helping to develop United Franchise Group’s non-profit and outreach sector. Oh, and being a wife- because it’s also a job!
Well if it sounds like I like to be busy, it’s because I do. In college I worked with TheatrePBA, was Vice President for Student Government Association, had a job at the University Admissions and was a student. I say that not to toot my own horn, but because learning to navigate crazy days, plan ahead and mastering the art of comprising during college is something I use every single day in the “real world”. Because I didn’t choose to go the normal ‘9-5 route’ I have to set my days accordingly, and compromise with others to ensure that I am still getting things accomplished. Plus, all my experiences, jobs, interactions and opportunities at PBA allowed me to gain transferrable skills such as analyzation, independent learning and communication, which I use in every endeavor.
I wish that I had been a little more exposed to networking and had learned how to network. I feel like when you think of networking you only assume those with business degrees need to learn it, but it is for everyone. Everyone is in the business of something and we should all know how to sell ourselves or learn how to utilize relationships and ask for help.

Like mentioned before, I can’t say I learned what a mortgage is, or understood how to work with health insurance during PBA, but what I did learn was how to communicate with others. All my experiences and opportunities had me engaging with folks who were students all the way up to donors and Trustee members. I learned how to present myself professionally, as well as how to work hard and collaborate with others.
Just find a job. It doesn’t have to be your dream job, or even something you remotely majored in. That doesn’t mean while you’re working at Starbucks you stop looking or stop pursuing what you want. Things won’t be magically handed to you on a plate just because you have a degree now. Stop with that thinking and don’t blame anyone because of it. Pride is the death of us all. Any place the Lord puts you, even if not where you want to be, is a place where you can learn. For those in school, I would say definitely look into internships or experiences during the summer. Don’t go home in May and work as a lifeguard (unless you really want to). Find a program to attend to, or a job in West Palm or somewhere else where you can explore, learn new things, but still have the comfort of returning to school in the fall. I spent one summer in Manhattan and another in San Diego. They were some of the most influential periods of my life on so many levels.
Well I can’t really say I’ve had one person mentoring me consistently (which is actually something I want to change), but I’ve had multiple people pour into areas of my life. I still take voice lessons and acting classes in the area so that I am constantly learning and honing my craft. The teachers there challenge me to grow. My husband has actually helped me a lot with my day job in learning about the business world and how to run a small business (since that’s what he does as a living). He has definitely helped me to expand my reach and help shape the business. Finally, my husband and I are mentored by an older couple for our marriage, which is something I highly suggest to those who get married young! And I’m sure as I get older there will be others!
