Biography
Dr. Giancarlo Aponte serves as Director of Military Affairs and Assistant Professor of Military Science at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he leads university-wide efforts to strengthen the experience, persistence, and success of veterans, active-duty service members, ROTC cadets, and military-connected students.
A transformational leadership scholar and systems thinker, Dr. Aponte’s work focuses on hope, agency, adult development, and student persistence. His research explores how universities can intentionally create the conditions that help students develop purpose, overcome barriers, persist through challenges, and reach their God-given potential.
At PBA, Dr. Aponte works across academic and administrative departments to advance a coordinated, Christ-centered approach to military-connected student success. His work includes Army ROTC growth and leadership development, military education benefits, student advocacy, institutional partnerships, career and transition support, and the development of systems designed to strengthen belonging, persistence, and graduation.
Beyond PBA, Dr. Aponte serves on the Board of the Miami-Dade Veterans Treatment Court and the Strategy Committee of the Council of College and Military Educators (CCME). He also mentors transitioning service members and veterans through national military transition and mentorship initiatives.
Dr. Aponte earned his Doctor of Education in Leadership and is an author, speaker, and mentor. His scholarship and professional practice are grounded in a central belief: growth creates hope, and hope fuels growth.
