In 1996, Dr. Virkler was the first faculty member hired in PBA’s graduate counseling program, teaching faithfully until his retirement in 2017. He was the 2011 recipient of the Charles and Hazel Corts Award for Outstanding Teaching. The scholarship will support students in the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program who share Dr. Virkler’s commitment to clinical counseling that integrates sound biblical interpretation as Dr. Virkler teaches in Hermeneutics: Principles and Processes of Biblical Interpretation. Originally released in 1981, Hermeneutics has been translated into eight languages. A third edition was published in 2023.
