Biography

Martin J. Clinard is a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant with a robust educational background and extensive clinical experience in otolaryngology. He earned his Master of Science in Medicine from the Physician Assistant Program at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in August 2003, following his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, in April 1996. 

Since October 2003, Martin has been a Physician Assistant at Adult & Pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat in Kalamazoo, Michigan. His role encompasses many responsibilities, including office consultations, follow-up appointments, pre and post-operative evaluations, prescribing medications, and ordering diagnostic tests and ancillary services for adult and pediatric patients. He is proficient in EMR documentation, oversees a medical scribe, and assists with the office call schedule. Martin is skilled in using an operating microscope for ear cleanings, mastoid cavity debridement, assessing pressure equalization tubes, and foreign body removal, alongside interpreting patient audiograms and performing manual treatments for positional vertigo. 

Martin’s expertise also includes performing nasal endoscopy to assess nasal cavity pathology and debridement following functional endoscopic sinus surgery, treating epistaxis, and evaluating the larynx/true vocal cords with flexible laryngoscopy/video stroboscopy techniques. 

Before his current role, Martin gained valuable experience as a Patient Care Assistant at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, from January 1998 to July 2001. He supported nursing and physician staff in the emergency department with various patient care and education tasks, earning the Hazel Latondress Award for Excellence in Teamwork in 1999. 

Martin’s clinical education and rotation experiences include critical care at Spectrum Hospital, internal medicine at Capital Internal Medicine Associates, emergency medicine at Shiawassee Emergency Physicians, Inc., psychiatry at Battle Creek Hospital of Veteran Affairs, and family medicine at Portland Family Health Center. 

He maintains an active engagement with professional networks, notably within the Michigan Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA), Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the Society of Physician Assistants in Otolaryngology (SPAO-HNS). This involvement underscores his dedication to continual professional growth and his keen interest in keeping pace with the latest developments in his specialty. 

 

Beyond his professional endeavors, Martin is deeply committed to his community, evidenced by his long-standing membership at Calvary Bible Church since 1999 and his involvement in Community Bible Study since 2020. He also contributed his time and skills as an Assistant Coach for the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (KOHA) from 2015 to 2018. He served as a Bike Trip Leader for Southridge Church’s Ridge 6:8 program from 2016 to 2018.
