Biography

After completing a drug information residency at Roche Laboratories, Krisy Thornby joined the faculty at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Gregory School of Pharmacy in 2009. Dr. Thornby is an associate professor of pharmacy practice with primary responsibilities including teaching and coordinating in the drug information and literature evaluation courses while serving as a preceptor for fourth-year rotation students or PGY1 residents electing drug information or academia. Dr. Thornby maintains a practice site affiliation with a local hospital assisting with a variety of drug information-related activities such as medication-use evaluations, formulary monographs, drug class reviews, policies/guidance revisions, and medication-related inquiries. She considers herself a continuous learner at the core and values the interactions alongside colleagues involved in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists (FSHP), where she maintains active membership. Her scholarly interests include topics related to the provision of drug information to healthcare professionals, as well as educational scholarship. She has authored articles on off-labeled uses, acute care, evidence of alternative medicines, new drug approvals, strategies to critically appraise the literature, and pharmacy curricula-related issues. She truly enjoys teaching student pharmacists the foundational principles of evidence-based medicine and takes great pride in training them to become critical thinkers who value ‘excellence with character.’
