Hope is something that oftentimes can be difficult to hold onto. When life gets dark and it feels like you never will be able to see the sun rise again, the word “hope” quickly turns into hopelessness. That feeling of hopelessness can be so difficult. When you’ve been knocked down and continue to get knocked down, it feels impossible to get up sometimes. In my life, this has come in the forms of starting a family, finding a career and parenting children with deep wounds, trauma and mental illness. The thing about hope, though, is as fast as it goes it can come again. Sometimes all we need is a tiny glimmer to remind us that we can get through the hard, difficult paths ahead of us. As the song “Love Never Fails” states, “There may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning.” And all it takes is one morning of that sun rising again to remind you that there is hope even in the darkest of days.
