Mental health is one component of a patient’s health, however just like physical health, mental health should be assessed and cared for throughout various healthcare settings. Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program has been built with a strong Christian foundation while blending psychotherapy with psychopharmacology to care for patients across the lifespan. PMHNPs promote mental health through assessment, diagnosis and management of mental health disorders.
The program will prepare you to work in a variety of settings, caring for patients with psychiatric and mental health disorders. These settings include, but are not limited to, outpatient healthcare facilities, such as mental health facilities, primary care and family practice offices, in addition to schools, residential substance abuse treatment facilities and home health agencies. Palm Beach Atlantic University will prepare you for your new career as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner as you care for the mind as a part of the whole person!
