Biography

Dr. Bourgoin joined the nursing faculty at PBA in 2021 as a clinical instructor of nursing and in 2023 transitioned to Associate Professor and BSN Undergraduate Degree Chairperson. In 2025, she was appointed as Associate Dean for the BSN Program. Prior to serving at PBA, Dr. Bourgoin was an Assistant Professor (2020–2021) and clinical nursing adjunct (2015–2020) at Mount Aloysius College in central Pennsylvania.

As a registered nurse of 33 years, Dr. Bourgoin has demonstrated expertise in the areas of community health, maternal child, and adult health. Her leadership experience includes serving as the nursing chairperson for the Hollidaysburg School District (2000–2020) and as a PBA new nursing faculty mentor (2024–2025). Her research focuses on adolescent and adult health disparities and early interventions that promote and improve health.

Her PhD research explored the experiences of recovering substance users and the potential of using mandatory drug testing in public and private high schools for adolescent health promotion. She has participated in mission projects in Puerto Rico and Guatemala. Dr. Bourgoin has also served as a child sponsor for Samaritan’s Purse and World Vision and as a host family for a teen from China. She attends Family Church Downtown in West Palm Beach. She and her husband, Todd, have three adult children and two grandchildren.
