Hicks Promoted to VP for Human Resources

Mona Hicks
has been promoted to vice president for human resources & Title IX coordinator, effective
June 9.
President
Dr. Debra A. Schwinn praised Hicks as a "strong leader internally and externally" whose "innovative and
compassionate HR skills" are assets to the University.
She has served the University faithfully since her hire in 1979 as accounts payable
and receivable clerk, serving under seven presidents, beginning with Dr. George Borders.
During her career, she took on additional responsibilities as the college grew: payroll
clerk, accounting supervisor, mail and support services supervisors, personnel and
payroll supervisor, director of human resources and associate vice president for human
resources.
Prior to coming to PBA, she worked as traffic director/production assistant for a
local television station, WEAT-TV 12 (WPEC today). She recalls meeting PBA's first
president, Dr. Jess Moody, when he came to the station to film a public service announcement.
The station was owned John D. MacArthur, who with his wife, Catherine T., are benefactors
of MacArthur Hall and the
MacArthur School of Leadership.
Hicks is a double alumna of the University, earning both a master's degree in human
resource development and bachelor's degree in business administration and finance.
Several other members of her family are PBA graduates including her late sister, Linda
Almy; her sons, Ron Hicks and Mike Carman and grandson, Hunter Hicks.
She is a Wellington resident and a Florida native, having been born to career Air
Force parents in Crestview, Florida, at Elgin Air Force Base.
