Hedrick Brothers Construction and Palm Beach Atlantic University celebrated the topping off of the University’s new student residence at 351 Pembroke Place.
The residence will have apartment-style units with full kitchens, a large meeting/conference space and community and private study spaces on each floor. The 163,000-plus square foot, eight-story building includes 154 one- and two-bedroom units with double occupancy accommodations for 510 beds. Expected completion is the third quarter of 2020.
Dale Hedrick, president & founder of Hedrick Brothers Construction, commended the workers who have laid the foundation for the new building and for all who will benefit from it – the University’s students.
“What we’re building is a place where relationships can be formed, friendships can be formed,” Hedrick said. “These people are going to change the world.”
University President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. praised Hedrick for his work. If you want to be a winner, you should attach yourself to him, Fleming said.
“You’re a champion for Christ, you’re a champion for PBA students, you’re a champion for this community, and you’re a champion for America,” Fleming said. “We like to win at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and this is a winning building.”
The building is more than concrete block. It is a place where students can come to a Christ-first University in a global destination and forge relationships, Fleming said.
“People all over our community are noticing your workmanship, your craftsmanship, your artistry,” Fleming said.
The topping off ceremony concluded with a crane raising the American flag. Additionally, a Christmas tree decorates the roof of the building.
