WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
– Three varsity competition fields at the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus
have received the Fields of Excellence award by Pioneer Athletics for the second consecutive
year. This was announced by Pioneer earlier in February.
The PBA Soccer/Lacrosse Field, Simpson Field and J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park all earned
the distinction recently as Pioneer Athletics annually names their Fields of Excellence
every spring.
"Palm Beach Atlantic University's continued partnership with Sports Turf One provides
our student-athletes and intramural competitors not only a place to call home but
one that is superior in quality and sustainability", said PBA Senior Associate Athletic
Director for External Operations Michael Brown.
"We appreciate the recognition provided by Pioneer Athletics for the many thousands
of hours that go into maintaining our competition fields to the level of excellence
we've come accustomed to through the great work of the Sports Turf One staff."
The PBA Soccer/Lacrosse Field is home to Sailfish men's and women's soccer as well
as men's and women's lacrosse. It features Bermuda grass on the playing surface and
sits directly to the west of the John & Sheila Rinker Sports Center.
Simpson Field is the home of Sailfish softball and J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park is the home
for Sailfish baseball. Both fields sit on the east end of the Rinker Athletic Campus.
All three fields were first used during the 2014-15 academic year.
PBA is home to 17 varsity sports -- eight men's sports and nine women's sports. The Sailfish are affiliated with NCAA DII and are members of the Sunshine State Conference.
