Responding to the employer demand to hire more business majors, Palm Beach Atlantic University has launched an accelerated evening degree program in business administration for working professionals.
The National Association of Business Employers (NACE) survey of major employers in 2015 found that they planned to hire college graduates and that the starting salaries were projected to be ahead of the previous year.
“It’s a good time to be a business major,” Dr. Leslie Turner, dean of the Rinker School of Business, says. “So it’s a great time to get or complete a business degree and you don’t have to put your successful career on hold while you do it.”
The accelerated Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree mirrors the curriculum of the traditional day program – including general education, business core courses and upper-level business courses in management, marketing or international business. The distinction of the accelerated program is that classes meet one evening a week in eight-week terms, freeing students to keep their full-time employment. Dean Turner said that students who have prior college credits or hold professional licenses may be able to complete the degree even faster.
“My professional background was in international trading and e-commerce, says Ariana Picchetto, advanced staff auditor with Caler, Donton, Levine, Cohen, Porter & Veil, P.A. in West Palm Beach. “The business degree from PBA improved my skills in negotiating with others of my field, helped me with my marketing strategies to increase sales and filled by heart with contentment from having a Christian perspective of the business world.”
