Two-Day Conference to Showcase Research, Future Careers


The fourth annual Palm Beach Atlantic University Interdisciplinary Research Conference, sponsored by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and co-sponsored by Alumni Services and Career Development, will be held on Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26, in the Warren Library. The theme is “Focus on Your Future.”

The conference will open="open" with a keynote address by PBA graduate Dr. Kimberly J. Reich, assistant research scientist with the Department of Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Reich will speak at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lassiter Rotunda of the Warren Library on “Courage, Faith and Succeeding in Academia: Insights from my Experiences.”

Reich is director of the Trophic Ecology and Sea Turtle Research Lab and Sea Turtle Recovery Program at Texas A&M. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at PBA in 1998 before continuing to Texas A&M for her master’s degree. She holds a doctorate from the University of Florida.

In addition, the conference will include student and faculty oral presentations and a poster session. On Thursday at 1 p.m., panel discussions are scheduled on “Scholarly Life After PBA: Insights from PBA Faculty Alums on Launching Your Career.” The discussions will take place along each of two academic tracks: science and health care, and liberal arts and the social sciences.
