More than 650 Conniston Community Middle School students and their family members
enjoyed an evening of food, physical activity and, above all, learning, during the
school’s annual FCAT Family Night on Thursday. For the third year, Palm Beach Atlantic University assisted Conniston, a neighbor
of PBA’s Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus, with FCAT Family Night. A dinner of pasta, salad and dessert was prepared by Aramark,
the University’s food service provider, and served by some 60 volunteers from NCCA Division II schools from around the country who are meeting in West Palm Beach for the NCAA Division
II Identity Workshop. While students participated in basketball and other games led by student-athletes,
parents were able to find out more about the ongoing PBA Center for Integrative Science Learning activities at Conniston. Also during the evening, the school’s chorus and band performed. The Center for Integrative Science Learning at PBA is funded by a grant from the Quantum Foundation. It includes faculty who are former K-12 teachers and administrators and professors
with terminal degrees in education, mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry.
Representatives of NCAA DII schools from around the country posed for a photo before
helping out with FCAT Family Night at Conniston Middle School. This was part of the
NCAA DII Identity Workshop being hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University. PBA is
a proud NCAA DII member.
