I started working with BodySite right before I graduated from PBA and have continued to with them since. My professional experience prior to my current job role came from two different internships and through PBA’s public relations capstone course, “Public Relations Campaigns”. My first internship was with the City of West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency where I served as a PR & Marketing Intern. My PR Campaign and second internship were both with the Education Foundation Palm Beach County, where I worked to increase awareness of its Red Apple Supplies store.
Don’t let people freak you out about “adulthood” or “the real world”. I would choose this life over full-time school, full-time homework and 2-3 jobs any day! On a more serious note, you have a lot of free time as a working professional. The weekends are YOURS. Rediscover yourself. Become a blogger, become a surfer, read books for fun, buy a kayak. Explore the hidden passions and talents you never thought you had (because you were too busy doing homework 24/7) and chase after them!

Palm Beach Atlantic instilled values in me - integrity, honesty, spirituality, optimism, positive work ethic, and more - all of which I continue to live out in my place of work. Under the professional training of Dr. Wes Jamison, I was prepared beyond words for real-life public relations. The academic rigor of the courses equipped me to be able to handle most anything that is thrown at me in the world of work.
Take risks! Do the unexpected and do not conform to societal pressures post-graduation. There are so many incredible startups, small businesses, nonprofits, and non-conventional professional career paths. Corporate America is not the only way. As someone who took the leap and got involved with a small business, I have had the unique opportunity to work under a successful entrepreneur and to grow my understanding of business, public relations and marketing. I get to be a part of laying the groundwork for a company and watching it grow and better yet, thrive. Being a part of a small business has given me the opportunity to BE somebody; every day I get to see the results of my efforts and get to set the framework for those who come after me. My heart for you is that you would be willing to be different and go a different route if that is where you are led; it will draw you closer to Christ as you experience this exhilarating thing we called life, while also stretch you to trust God more deeply.
I would consider my boss, John Cummings, my professional mentor. He knows my gifts and is willing to push me to use them in new ways, challenges me to continue to grow my skillset, and inspires me to always dream bigger. Additionally, Dr. Wes Jamison was and will continue to be a professional mentor. His teaching, training, and belief in me got me to where I am today professionally.
