I am currently on staff at an incredible church where I serve as the director of discipleship for various facets of our ministries. I lead our student ministry and oversee community groups, along with a variety of other roles.
I spent each of my summers in college interning for different churches/ministries, along with working as a Chapel Intern during the year at PBA. Post grad, I worked for PBA as an Undergraduate Admissions Counselor before moving to Dallas, TX where I worked as the Women’s Director of KLIFE, a parachurch student ministry. I started my current role after my time in Dallas.
I wish I would have known that I would be ready. There was such an ominous looming to post-grad and professional life! I always heard students talk about how fearful they were and how hard it would be. In reality, your time at PBA is the exact preparation you need for the next step in your professional journey.
" I wish I would have known that I would be ready."
PBA prepared me to think critically and creatively. It gave me the opportunity to take on leadership roles where I would learn to use my own creativity and gifting to develop those around me. It gave me the freedom to fail in a place where I could learn from my mistakes and try again. This has been invaluable to me, as I’ve learned to grow from failed attempts as well as from successes. But perhaps more than anything, it fostered in me a desire for excellence in all things.
Be confident! There can be so much pressure associated with post-grad life and it often leads to unnecessary fear and anxiety. You have been prepared for this! Walk in confidence and humility. Seek out people in your field who can invest in you and help you navigate the transition, but don’t allow anxiety to overcome you. You’re ready for this and it’s going to be good!
Yes! I have been mentored by an author/speaker who has spoken much into my life as a writer/communicator. My lead pastor is also very intentional about professional and personal development, and I have benefited greatly from that. I’m so grateful to those who have invested in me because it has helped me hone in on and develop my skill and gifting in immeasurable ways.
