Currently I am competing as a professional beach volleyball player in the US as well as coaching part time. I compete at the national level, so I will travel all around the country competing in tournaments. I train during the week days and usually travel to play on weekends.
Right after graduating I played indoor volleyball professionally in Europe and Asia.
It is ok to not use your degree right after graduating college! I know this probably isn't the "correct" answer, but don't be scared to explore and experience the world. You have your whole life to use your degree, but if you are given an opportunity to live in another country or do something out of the ordinary, seize it!
"... don't be scared to explore and experience the world."
PBA helped build my confidence as an individual. I would never have been bold enough to live in another country by myself if it weren't for my personal development at PBA. It also built discipline that allows me to work hard every day, even when I do not feel like it.
I would advise current PBA students/young alumni to find your passion and be patient! Your dream job will not just be handed to you. In other words, you will start at the bottom of the food chain but trust the process and stay disciplined. All things worthwhile require a lot of time and hard work.
Yes, I have been mentored by many people since entering my professional field. God has placed certain people in my life, at different seasons of my life, and the impact they have had on me is enormous! Whether it be words of encouragement or leading by example, each mentor in my life has a special place in my heart even if it was just for a small chapter of my life. It has shaped me into the person I am today.
