Hometown: Summerville, SC
I am a program associate at Quantum Foundation. That is a private grant-making organization that funds health-related programs and organizations in Palm Beach County, Florida. I work with nonprofits, guiding them along the grants proposal process and I build strong relationships in the community.
I had four official internships during my college career. I interned with First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach, Florida; Merton Venture Philanthropy, Purpose-Built Communities (IMPACT West Palm Beach) and Quantum Foundation. I had other work experience as a trainer at CrossFit Rosemary Square and as a lacrosse coach for both FCA South Florida and the Rosarian Academy. Additionally, I have had the privilege of helping to launch a lacrosse nonprofit called Creator’s Game, whose focus is on traditionally underserved communities. Our mission is to introduce, support, and develop the game of lacrosse with the purpose of strengthening athletes through coaching, competition, and championing spiritual growth.
One thing I have learned is just how willing so many professionals are to mentor and givi their time to interested students. Now that I know about these resources, I wish I had been more willing to ask for help and advice in my early years at PBA.
" Knowing now that there are so many resources available, I wish I had been more willing to ask for help..."
Being a business student at Palm Beach Atlantic University opened up a world of networking with high-level professionals in my field. PBA's location and connections made it easy to gain valuable work experience while still in school.
Say “yes” a lot. This is the time to discover your gifts and talents while also finding what you are passionate about. The best way to do this is to say “yes” to opportunities within various fields that include a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities.
Yes. As a PBA student and now, at the start of my career, I have been surrounded by people who help me learn, grow, and become better. In my brief time in the field of social impact, I have been overwhelmed by the many people who are willing to help and have taken an interest in my career. These high-level, forward-thinking people have both inspired and challenged me to be as effective as possible in my field and shown me how necessary sustainable impact is in the world. From my team here at Quantum Foundation, to my lacrosse coaches, to PBA faculty and staff, to many friends along the way, all have shaped me and helped me get to where I am today. I am extremely grateful for so many who have done so much for me and I hope to play similar roles in others’ lives in the future.
