I work as a content writer for The Digital Intellect, a digital marketing company in West Palm Beach which primarily represents rehab facilities. Basically, I write blogs for the entities that my company represents and optimize them according to Google’s standards so that our companies will show up on the first page of the search engine in order for them to receive more web traffic and hopefully more patients seeking treatment.
I worked briefly as a behavior therapist for young children with autism, however, I realized soon into the job that it was not the professional direction I wanted to pursue long-term. I did not have any professional experience related to my current position before starting, which I think has been difficult as well as exciting. I am getting to start out with sort of a blank slate and explore other career options that I had not even considered before.
I wish I had known that there are just far more career options out there than there ever seemed to be before. I wish I had understood that and let it encourage me that there is always another option. You do not have to know exactly what you want to do right out of college or have a perfect career path. Life is all about the unknown and trusting the Lord to lead you in discovering His will for your life!
"PBA also taught me the value of networking both professionally and in having a community of friends to back me up at all times."
PBA instilled a strong work ethic in me which has prepared me to be able to work hard in my current position where I am able to set my own hours. I have also acquired a strong ability to research because of the difficulty of my classes at PBA, which has infinitely helped me because the ability to research and learn can take you anywhere. PBA also taught me the value of networking both professionally and in having a community of friends to back me up at all times, because the work world can be tough and sometimes you just need a friend to tell you that God is in control!
Do not be anxious about your future as a professional, or in any other regard. Know that the Lord is in control of all things and let today be all that you have to worry about. Work hard but know that ultimately the Lord your God is a good Father who equips whom He calls. I started my professional life in a job that I thought would become my career but quickly realized that it was not for me. It is only because of my trust in the Lord that I was able to make a career change and not let it devalue me as a person or discourage me from trying new things. It is okay for your path to be a little messy!
I have not been mentored by anyone in my field thus far.
