FloridaACE Awards Senior Comm Major

Senior Bailey Eldridge earned the Student of the Year Award from the Florida Association of Colleges & Employers (FloridaACE). A communications major with a business administration minor, Eldridge was selected based upon her internship experiences and demonstrated achievement of professional, personal and academic skills in a working and learning environment.

In her application, the Texas native wrote about how her recommendation to install Asana project management software helped ServeVita Holdings LLC, a consulting firm in Keller, Texas, specializing in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, better track progress on their tasks. As a result of her work, nine consultants and the ServeVita project manager communicate more efficiently, increasing their productivity and level of customer service.

Eldridge’s internship with Workplace Opportunities Unlimited, a community-based employment service provider in West Palm Beach, had her managing a caseload of clients with varying abilities and barriers to success. She used an individualized, strength-based approach to help the clients develop communication and career/college readiness skills, establish career plans, identify vocational goals, write resumes, coached them for interviews and taught them job search strategies.

Jennifer Fonseca, assistant director of Career Development, nominated Eldridge for the FloridaACE award. “Bailey is a born communicator with a commitment to others, to building interpersonal relationships, and to establishing and upholding core values,” Fonseca wrote. She described Eldridge’s role in building the Career Peer program and her role in helping write the Career Peer Navigation Manual, which has been shared by request with 107 other institutions.

At PBA, she serves as events coordinator for Student Government, as a Career Peer program manager and coordinator of the Presidential Ambassadors. Eldridge was selected as one of PBA’s first three Q Union presenters. Previously, she served as an FYE peer mentor, a fleet member (extension of Welcome Week) and as co-captain and defense attorney on PBA’s Mock Trial Team. She was the hotel coordinator for Student Leadership University in Orlando in 2017.

Her volunteer service includes assistance to The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach Zoo, Palm Beach Habilitation Center and Invictus Fides Speech and Debate.

After graduating from PBA in December, Eldridge says that she plans to become a consultant with a goal to become a C-suite executive.

In addition to the award, she received a cash prize from the Florida Association of Colleges & Employers.
