Faculty Profile

Full Name: Ann Yanchura

Associate Professor of Education

B.A., Marywood University; M.S.Ed., Walden University, Ed.D., National Louis University.

Dr. Yanchura has spent the majority of her education career in the K-12 setting in a variety of positions that primarily focus on supporting the struggling learner. She taught elementary special education and then went on to hold the position of literacy coach and interventionist in a middle school and then a high school setting.

Since 2010, Dr. Yanchura has taught both online and on-ground undergraduate and graduate courses in education for Benedictine University, National Louis University, Olivet Nazarene University, and most recently for Palm Beach Atlantic University. Her instructional expertise lies in literacy instruction across the curriculum, teacher professional development, differentiation for the striving learner, special education, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Her research and doctoral dissertation focused on shared instructional leadership among literacy coaches and building and district administration during their adoption of the Common Core State Standards.

In addition to her work in schools and universities, Dr. Yanchura has been active in social justice issues, including work with the homeless, food pantries, and literacy initiatives for underserved populations, including after school tutoring at an urban high school. This work also included a position on the Board of Directors and volunteer for A to Z Literacy, an international mission whose goal is to provide books and literacy support to schools all over the world. She participated in an A to Z mission trip to Zambia where she provided professional development to teachers in both private and government schools.

Dr. Yanchura and her husband have raised three children to adulthood and now take great pleasure in the joys of being grandparents.
