Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Theory - College of the Arts
TYPE: Full-time
LOCATION: West Palm Beach Campus
SUMMARY: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Theory reports to the Chair of the Department
of Music. Courses taught include Aural Skills sequence, Music Theory sequence, Counterpoint,
and Arranging.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in university service, student recruitment, retention, and progression,
faculty development programs, and student advising
- Contribute to scholarly and/or proprietary creative activity
- Integrate Christian faith and pedagogy
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Record of successful teaching, service, and scholarly/creative activity appropriate
to rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
- Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, as well as conflict
resolution
- Commitment to shared governance and consensus building within a university setting
- Experience with and commitment to building community across and with programs, departments
and schools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An earned doctorate in Music Theory or a closely related field from an accredited
institution of higher education is required. Three (3) plus years of teaching experience
at the university level and experience teaching applied composition preferred.
