Dr. Voorhies is passionate about working with leaders, their teams and organizations to achieve exceptional performance. Working with faith-based leaders, he emphasizes the integration of a biblical world view and one’s faith journey, view and practice of leadership. Dr. Voorhies has led his own consulting company, Voorhies International Consulting (VIC) (www.samvoorhies.com), for ten years. His expertise and the work of VIC encompasses multiple areas of executive leadership development, coaching, team, organizational development and change management. He has wide-ranging, in-depth cross-cultural experience, having resided in Africa for 12 years, and worked in more than 80 countries. Dr. Voorhies's past organizational role focused on strategy, senior leadership development and organizational change, along with board governance, supporting organizational growth for World Vision International. His last role was Global Director for Leadership and Organizational Development. He also worked with Peter Drucker who served as an advisor to the global leadership program.
Dr. Voorhies is the author of several articles and publications on leadership, international and community development including: Serving the Poor: Steps to Relief and Development; Transformational Development: God at Work Changing People and Their Communities, in Perspectives on the World Christian Movement (Ralph Winter & Steve Hawthorne, William Carey Library, in print 1998); Working with Government Using World Bank Funds: An NGO World Bank Partnership (1992); Global Mission Handbook: A Guide to Cross Cultural Service (2009 IVP); Leadership Development and Organizational Effectiveness (The Good Steward.Com, 2004). He has also served as an adjunct and visiting professor for Leadership and International Development at St. Georges University, Colorado Christian University, Eastern University and Fuller Seminary.
Dr. Voorhies recently relocated to South Florida to join Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach as the founding Director of the Center for Biblical Leadership.
Sam is married to Emily and has three adult children and three grandchildren.
