Dr. Phillips taught elementary and secondary vocal music in Florida and Pennsylvania,
was a teaching assistant at Temple University and served as a Visiting Professor at
Western Illinois University before joining PBA in 1998. At Temple, he was a student
of Dr. Edwin Gordon and worked with Dr. Gordon in the Children's Music Preparatory
Program.
At PBA, he serves as coordinator of music education and directs the Pep Band; he also teaches music methods classes, supervises student teaching and sponsors the collegiate chapter of the MENC.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, a high school choral director, appeared as back-up singers for Sarah Brightman's "La Luna" DVD. They are members of the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches.
