Pamela Payne became a full-time faculty member in 1999 after three years of teaching college-level adults on an adjunct basis. In addition, she has 19 years of experience in secondary education, working primarily with college-bound and advanced placement students. She also has worked as a faculty consultant to the College Board and as a reader/consultant for the CLAST examination. She has received scholarships for summer study from the English-Speaking Union (University of London, 1986) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (University of Puget Sound, 1993). Payne is currently completing Ph.D. study in literature at the University of Miami.
