David A. Lawson received his Psy. D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Biola University in Southern California. After spending one year at the University of Virginia’s Counseling Center, he started teaching counseling at Liberty University. He is currently a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. He has multiple presentations at Florida Counseling Association, the American Association for Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists and was the family counseling president for FCA. He spent 6 years reviewing journal articles in his areas of expertise of human sexuality and sexual trauma, complex trauma, and adolescent mental health for the Journal of Counseling and Development and written most recently on non-suicidal self-harm, and evidence-based therapies. Of significance to Dr Lawson is the time he spent providing workshops for the United States military helping couples with couple’s communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation. An avid traveler, Dr Lawson has spoken throughout the world on the benefits of counseling and therapy.
