B.S., Radford University; M.A., Psy.D., Biola University.
Dr. Lawson is a graduate of Biola University, where he received his doctorate in
clinical psychology. He returned to his home state of Virginia and finished his clinical
internship in psychology at the University of Virginia; he was subsequently hired
by Liberty University, where he taught for 10 years in their counseling program. Dr.
Lawson has written articles for the Journal of Psychology and Christianity, covering
issues of interest related to families, sexuality, and the integration of faith and
science. He has worked with the Virginia Psychological Association, and has served
as a board member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies (CAPS) and
the Lifeline of Central Florida, a suicide prevention hotline. Dr. Lawson has also
served as the president of the marriage and family counseling chapter of the Florida
Counseling Association. He has reviewed articles for Communiqué, the journal of the
National Association of School Psychologists, and The Journal of Counseling and Development,
the journal of the American Counseling Association; he also has served as editor of
the online journal, Counseling Connections. Dr. Lawson has spoken at numerous family
conferences and was hired by the Department of Defense to provide marriage enrichment
training to their staff. Dr. Lawson has presented numerous times at national conferences
such as the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Association for
Sex Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), and CAPS. He is married to Amy Lawson
and they have 4 children. They currently reside in Apopka and attend Renew Church.
