Dr. Andrea Dyben transitions into a faculty position after directing the Student
Success Center at PBA for three years. The prior two years were spent as the PBA university
counselor. Dr. Dyben’s background includes private psychotherapy practice, early behavioral
intervention in schools, small business consulting, accounting, training/development,
and hospitality management. As she has most recently honed her skills in student development,
she taught as an adjunct professor in the graduate counseling psychology program. She
also completed her research on the response to the psychosocial needs of adolescents
with cystic fibrosis as well as research on the role of mentoring in developing leaders
of color in higher education, which was presented at a national conference on qualitative
inquiry. She has a passion for developing clinically competent and biblically sound
counselors for a hurting world. As a state-qualified clinical supervisor for post-graduate
mental health counselors, she sees her experience and research in leadership as directly
relevant to this mission. Dr. Dyben recently completed her Ph.D. in counselor education
and supervision at Regent University. She has been involved with lay counselor training
and small group teaching at her church and mission work in Costa Rica. Dr. Dyben will
be expanding her work with the cystic fibrosis community, specifically in the area
of adolescent development and support.
