Dr. Dougherty has been fortunate to have had opportunities in many areas of pharmacy
including research, clinical practice, management, and academia. He has been an active
and licensed pharmacist in clinical pharmacy practice for over 30 years and has been
licensed as a consultant pharmacist for over 10 years. His experience in clinical
pharmacy practice includes teaching, government, for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals
for both adult and pediatric patient populations. He began his career at Johns Hopkins
Hospital as a clinical pharmacist. After earning his MBA, Dr. Dougherty subsequently
moved into hospital administration as a director of pharmacy. His experience includes
the opening of a new pediatric hospital in Orlando, Nemours Children’s Hospital. Dr.
Dougherty has also been involved in pharmacy education as an assistant professor of
pharmacy at Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and an
adjunct clinical assistant professor for the University of Florida College of Pharmacy
for over 13 years. His extensive clinical and managerial experience helps to shape
his professional interactions. Dr. Dougherty has authored over 25 manuscripts and
abstracts and has presented at many pharmacy professional organizations; he also is
a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and is board certified in pharmacotherapy.
He lives in Jupiter with his wife, Kristiann, and they have raised four sons.
