Before joining PBA in the summer of 2000, Dr. Compton established a chapter of Psi
Chi and, from this, developed and managed an annual Student Interdisciplinary Research
Conference. He was also selected as the Psi Chi Faculty Member of the Year twice,
and was twice awarded the Georgia College & State University Research and Publication
Since arriving at PBA, he has developed and launched the Office of Academic Research, with oversight governing all human and animal research as well as the PBA chapter of Psi Chi. He has presented at conferences and published a number of articles in referred journals in such diverse areas as neuroscience, aging, neuropsychology and contemporary social issues.
A member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology, Dr. Compton is currently conducting research exploring the neuropsychology of drugs of abuse, the neuroanatomical substrates of learning and memory processes and the personality characteristics of business majors enrolled in different specializations.
