Dr. Cauffield completed a 2-year fellowship in family medicine under the direction of Dr. John Gums at University of Florida. She became a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist in 2008. Her range of practice settings has been diverse. They have included turns as a clinical pharmacist in the West Palm VAMC ambulatory care clinics, independent business owner of a medical writing and educational company, retail pharmacy and academic experience as both an assistant professor and academic facilitator. Just prior to coming to Palm Beach Atlantic University, Dr. Cauffield served as a clinical pharmacy specialist in Vancouver, WA. Her experience included patient care and education within a family medicine residency program and within a hospice program. Both positions involved collaborative practice agreements and a close working relationship with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals. Dr. Cauffield has authored several articles in publications such as Annals of Pharmacotherapy, Pharmacotherapy and American Family Physician. She additionally wrote for both Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database and Micromedex AltMedDex. She serves as a reviewer for Pharmacotherapy. She has spoken at the local, state and national levels, and held offices in both ACCP’s Women’s Health PRN and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
