Ministry: Student Ministries Concentration

As a student ministries concentration, you'll learn how to help to guide youths' walks with Christ.

Working with youth is important to you -- especially helping to guide their walk with Christ. A Ministry major with a Student Ministries Concentration will provide you with experience in relationship building through teaching and mentoring. You will gain the knowledge, skills and character essential for fruitful youth ministry with adolescents in middle school, high school and young adults in college.

A student ministries concentration will equip you to play a major role in shaping the spiritual life of many born into a generation defined by technology who still have a desire to grow spiritually.

Students may begin to apply for admission after their junior year in high school, and must submit a non-refundable $50 application fee, a 300-500 word essay that details the intersection of the applicant’s faith journey with his or her collegiate goals, their high school transcripts, and their scores on the SAT or ACT.

With a Student Ministries Concentration, you'll:

  • Develop in two major areas: (1) leadership and organizational skills, and (2) skills that foster the development, nurture and care of youth.
  • Gain hands-on experience through course-related youth ministry internships
  • Enhance your knowledge and skills through clubs and organizations.
  • Learn from and be mentored by faculty who have years of youth ministry
