Classes Resume Today in Gregory School of Pharmacy

First-year pharmacy students discuss a lesson during the first day of classes on Monday. Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) is a private, accredited, Christ-centered college located in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. The 2013-14 academic year officially began Monday morning for some 315 graduate students in the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Among them were 78 first-year students who make up the 13th class of entering students since the school’s founding in 2001.

The incoming students’ first class of the day, Clinical Laboratory and Physical Assessment, was taught by Dr. Curt Carlson, assistant professor of pharmacy practice.

“Welcome to your first day of pharmacy school,” Dr. Carlson said. “You’ll get out of your experience, what you give. Put forth every effort into learning as much as you can.”

The first topic of their discussion was “Approach to Solving a Clinical Patient Problem.”

“There is a systematic method to evaluate what’s going on with a patient in order to come up with a rational assessment,” Dr. Carlson said.

Undergraduate and graduate students in the University’s other schools are scheduled to resume classes on Monday, Aug. 26.
